Naturopathic Physicians:

- work to remove the obstacles blocking the body’s healing
- diagnose, prevent and treat each aspect of health, mental, emotional and physical
- utilize medical and naturopathic therapeutics to enhance the body’s overall health
Licensed Naturopathic Doctors graduate from an accredited naturopathic medical school, learning a standardized education completing approximately:
- 1500 hours of basic clinical sciences
- 1900 hours of standard medical therapeutics (e.g., pharmacology, family Medicine, internal medicine etc.)
- extensive training in various naturopathic treatments as below
- additional certifications may be achieved with additional education, examinations and licensing.

The Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME) ensures a high standard of of naturopathic medical education in Naturopathic Medical Schools across the United States and Canada.
Accredited Schools voluntarily concede to the CNME as the authority for creating elite educational standards for the naturopathic profession, providing four-year, graduate-level programs in naturopathic medicine.
Only these graduates are eligible to take naturopathic licensing examinations (NPLEX) administered by the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners (NABNE).
